Active Birth Pools Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Active Birth Pools has been instrumental in pioneering the use of water for labour and birth in mainstream medical institutions in the United Kingdom and worldwide. Today, we offer the most advanced and comprehensive range of water birth pools in the world.

Since we introduced water birth pools to hospitals in 1987 we have established a reputation for the highest quality products and principles of design to a point where they can truly be regarded as the benchmark standard.

To mark our 25th year we are planning upgrades to some of our most popular pools and developing a brand new birth pool that will set new standards for ergonomic design, beauty and function.

2011 - Our Most Industrious Year Ever !!!

We are pleased to report the following achievements:

1. The introduction of the popular Princess Pool has had a tremendous impact on the ability of hospitals to provide dedicated water birth facilities. It's compact size and lower price tag have enabled many units to upgrade their facilities.
2. Flagship NHS Hospital Addenbrooke's have opted for 10 x Active Birth Pools to ensure that women having babies at their new birth unit always have the option of a water birth.
3. Thanks to a windfall in Olympic spending, Newham University Hospital have been able to equip their new delivery suite with 1 x Active Birth Pool and 10 x Princess Pools.
4. The compendium of research, studies and reports in our Articles section has been expanded and is now one of the most comprehensive available anywhere.
5. A record breaking 77 birth pools were delivered to hospitals throughout the UK and abroad.
6. The cutting edge, contemporary design of our beautiful new Amaryllis Pool makes it ideal for labour and birth in water.
