This portable pool has set the standards that other portable birth pools are measured by

The Oval Portable Water Birth Pool is our most luxurious and largest portable pool.

It's versatile shape offers the possibility of experimenting with a wide variety of positions. Stretched out from head to toe.

Or moving across the pool to rest comfortably against one side while putting your feet up on the opposite side fr support.

The Oval Pool's frame consists of four solid fibreglass panels which are bolted together (no tools necessary). The panels slope inward from top to bottom. They provide comfortable support when leaning back.

The thick ground pad which cushions and insulates the floor is placed in the open frame. This makes kneeling comfortable. Then the main liner and disposable liner are put in place. The pool is now ready to fill.

Maximum assembly time - 15 minutes.

One of the most important features of this pool is it's strong - wide rim.

Mother’s and midwives appreciate the comfort and support it provides in virtually all of the positions used during labour and birth.

After producing the first pools in the late eighties I realised the importance of the shape and size of the rim.

So - before designing the current models I tested 7 different rim shapes.

I found that the rim needed to be at least three inches wide and gently curved because...

  • It provides comfortable support for the woman when entering or leaving the pool. She can sit on the rim and swivel your legs round into the pool, or hold onto the rim and step over into the pool.

  • It’s a supportive and comfortable surface to lean on. A very popular position for labour and birth is kneeling forward with the arms resting on the rim. The wide, gently curved surface of the rim provides a broad surface to rest the forearms on and relax in between contractions

  • You’ll appreciate being able to lean on the wide, comfortable rim when assisting the mother.

  • The mother can need to hold onto the rim for supported squats and other upright positions.

  • She may want to be supported by your partner. A favourite position is for him to sit on the rim of the pool with his legs in the pool. The mother can then settle down between his legs with your arms resting on his thighs. The perfect supported squat!

The integral seat-step is another unique
and important feature of this pool

It helps the mother to enter and leave the pool.

It's also great to use during labour -- to assist squatting -- to kneel on -- or to push against. If she gives birth in the water - she’ll probably want to stay in the pool to welcome her baby.

She can rest comfortably on the seat with her baby at your breast during these precious first moments.
